NIGERIAN SOCIALITES WHO HAVE LOVE CHILD

In a culture where our forefathers often had as many as 20 wives, with a flock of concubines thrown in for good measure, it comes as no surprise to many Nigerians that many citizens in elevated stations in the society have spawned a generation of children out of wedlock. In spite of the age-old argument that, given the Nigerian culture - as it concerns procreation - no child is illegitimate, the reality on the ground is that most children begotten outside wedlock often suffer a fate comparable with that of second class citizens.Investigation discovered that owing to the popularity of nuclear families in Nigeria, love children have fared much worse as housewives, and in some cases husbands, are grimly opposed to bringing love children into the nuclear family setting.

My Condolence, Mr President

HI THERE,I HOPE YOU HAD AN AWESOME CHRISTMAS AND I WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TOO MY APOLOGIES FOR NOT HAVING POSTED ANY ARTICLES FOR A FEW DAYS I TRAVELLED FOR THE CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS SO ITS BEEN A CONSTRAINT FOR ME.
I CAME ACROSS THIS DEEPLY INSIGHTFUL,THOUGHT PROVOKING AND SOMBRE ARTICLE AND THOUGH I SHOULD POST IT FOR YOUR READING PLEASURE

Your Excellency, when I wrote my last letter to you about three weeks ago, little did I realise I was going to write another so soon.  But events of the past two weeks have happened so rapidly, and in such dramatic fashion, that it left me with no choice than to come back to you, anon, Sir.

I believe the first thing to do is to once again commiserate with you on the death of fellow Nigerians in that fatal helicopter crash. It is always sad, sombre and sobering when we witness such tragedy of monumental proportions in our clime. The loss of any soul, no matter the religious persuasion or ethnic background is always an occasion for  collective mourning and abstemious reflections.

On a personal note, I was absolutely shattered even if I did not have a close relationship with any of the unfortunate victims. I was a great fan of Lt. General Owoye Azazi, in particular, after the brilliant speech he gave at his controversial outing in Delta State, where he lampooned and lambasted Nigeria’s reckless ruling party as being responsible for the spate of violent crimes in the country. Since then and until he paid the ultimate price and became a reluctant statistic of the failings of our nation, life had never been a bed of roses for him.   He instantly became a pariah and was treated like a recalcitrant baby in the family.

I POSTED THIS CAUSED IM ALWAYS INTRIGUED AND BEMUSED AT THIS NEVER ENDING CONTROVERSY BETWEEN THE TWO TRADITIONAL RULERS.

HONOURABLE PATRICK OBAIAGBON What Oshiomhole taught me during the campaigns’

He was recently appointed as the Chief of Staff to Governor Adams Oshiomhole, after the victory of his boss in the July 14, 2012 governorship election in Edo State. Patrick Obahiagbon (Igodomigodo), a former Majority Leader in the state House of Assembly, became a national figure while representing the people of Oredo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He is a man of bombast.. In this interview with SIMON EBEGBULEM, in his usual way of expressing himself, he speaks on his new job, the vision and mission of Oshiomole, as well as the 2015 election, among other issues.
Excerpts:

There appeared to be an alteration between you and the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, at the Benin Airport, when the Sultan of Sokoto visited Benin City last weekend. Can you shed some light on what actually happened?

Chief Bode George: Nigeria’s Ebiti Plenipotentiary By Pius Adesanmi

Dear Chief Bode George:  Greetings in the name of our lord Jesus Christ. I hope this letter meets you in good condition of health, if so, glory be to the one God we serve on His throne. I am writing you on an issue of urgent personal importance. I’ve written you or about you in the past and we shall get to that presently. Before I apprise you of the personal grievances I hold against you, let me seize this opportunity to congratulate you on your successful return to the commanding heights of Nigeria’s moral, political, and economic orders.
We know that your enemies begrudged you your own share of the national cake and contrived to send you to prison for stealing just about N80 billion at the ports – well, minus what you raked in when you mistook the treasury of Ondo state for your agbada’s pocket when you were Governor there in the 1980s.

General Azazi's Final Hour By Ross Alabo-George

By Ross Alabo-George
It was just a few minutes to 13.00hours and the service of songs was in session when our chartered Caverton helicopter landed in ancient breezy coastal community of Okoroba, hometown of Mr. Oronto Douglas, a senior aide to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. I had flown with my Uncle, Engr. Mayne David-West, Principal Consultant of Pearl Consultants, and George Kerley, Coordinator of The Jonathan Project and an unrepentant crusader of the president.
We proceeded directly to the venue of the Service of Songs. It was a ten minutes walk from the school field where the helicopter had landed, and it offered an opportunity to see the sprawling ancient community and the new developments taking place. The people were very happy. They were seeing new faces – ministers; governors; commissioners; corporate executives and citizens they only read about and saw in the news walk on the new rigid pavements of their community. I think above all, they wowed at the Nollywood stars who dazzled the natives to disbelief.Ramsey Noah, Rita Dominic, Segun Arinze et al, then the big masquerade – Kanu Nwankwo was right there. I said to myself, the children of Okoroba Town would be inspired by the time the body of Pa Douglas is finally laid to rest.
In this flourish and fanfare, he sat quiet, listening to the incisive message delivered by the Reverend Ayo Oritsejafor. He seemed consumed by the pastor’s deep rhetoric about how ephemeral life was, and how wealth and money were necessary vanity but how a life well spent is eternal in value. Still, I interrupted his intense engrossment. He was excited to see me. We exchanged pleasantries and he asked that I stay around for a chat after the pastor’s message. I did.
The General is a towering man. Dressed in a grey striped French suite and black shoes, I watched him walk in his usual calculated steps as he left the tent to the other tent where the reception for visitors was to be held. He looked fresh, like he had rested well after his surprising removal as National Security Adviser. His warmth was charming and his humility ever evident. He was led to a roundtable on the first row and he took his seat by his friend Engr. Mayne David-West whom he hadn’t seen in months. They chatted warmly while they poured themselves a little champagne. He was served soup and he ate light. In about forty-five minutes he was done. Just about then, he receives a signal that the ill-fated helicopter was on its way.

Why air crash reports are never released, by Fani-Kayode, ex-Aviation Minister

Femi Fani-Kayode was drafted from the Ministry of Culture to the Ministry of Aviation in late 2006.  As expected, he got there and stormed.  Usefully, Fani-Kayode’s tenure experienced what has been described as a turn around because just within a year preceding his posting, five air disasters had occurred.  And once he left the ministry, either by a mix of ill-fate or coincidence or negligence, things began another turn around for the worse.  Last Sunday’s Dana Air crash in Lagos forced Sunday Vanguard to seek Fani-Kayode out.
In this revealing session, he insists that government should demonstrate more willingness to safe-guard the skies.  And whereas he says the current aviation minister is trying her best, things could still be better.
Excerpts:

“Joy Comes In The Morning” – Femi Fani-Kayode

Today our nation stands at a crossroad and it is left for us to decide which path we choose to take. Do we take the path of despair and dishonour and give up on our country? Or do we rise above it all and latch on to the promises of God for our land and for our people? With biting poverty, mounting hopelessness, a bleeding economy, youth restiveness, unprecedented violence, brazen acts of terror and all manner of vices and evil thriving in the land one wonders how things got so bad. The foundation for our current situation was laid many years ago and since that time we have seen so much suffering and failure at virtually all levels. We were plagued with leaders who lacked vision, who lacked intellect, who lacked sincerity of purpose and who were antagonistic to those that dared to challenge their visionless and purposeless policies. Our country is currently bedeviled with so much negativity that it is easy to look around and just give up. Yet I say that we must never give up because ”hope springs eternal”.  The bible says though the night may be dark yet ”joy comes in the morning”.  The wise ones say you cannot have a message without a mess. You cannot have a testimony without a test. You cannot get to the top of the mountain without first going to the bottom of the valley. This is true. And out of Nigeria’s ”mess” shall surely come her ”message”. Out of Nigeria’s ”test” shall surely come her ”testimony”.

Why Nigeria is producing more billionaires…as the poor get poorer

The Nigeria’s rich list is growing rapidly even as the country’s poverty rate escalates. In this year’s list of 40 African billionaires by Forbes magazine, 11 Nigerians were mentioned. This is even as many Nigerians blame government’s pro-rich policies and anti-poor moves for the widening disparity between the rich and the poor. Weekly Trust reports
In the 2012 list of Africa’s 40 billionaires compiled by the Forbes Magazine, Nigeria made a strong showing with more than one fourth of the names contained in the role, which had 12 South Africans. Nigeria was ahead of Egypt which had eight billionaires on the list and Morocco which had five. Angola, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda had one each.

A Lost Map on the Tramway in Istanbul

“Who are you? This is Turkey. Do you know what Turkey is?” a man asked me, his thick glasses magnifying the fear in his eyes. He belonged to the little-known Armenian Gypsy community, in the KurtuluĹź district of Istanbul. I was at a teahouse where Armenian Gypsy men usually gathered, trying to interview them.
And he was right. I didn’t know what Turkey is. But Turkey, and many Armenians themselves, didn’t know who he was either.

NIGERIAN POLITICAL SLEEP WALKER

Profligacy and government incompetence at its worst,a celebration and wanton display of excess by the minority,in the midst of poverty being experienced amongst the majority.
Diezani Allison Madueke just rubbed it in when a  perjorative comment was attributed to her saying Nigerians can't ask for rule of law and be complaining of fuel scarcity, that's rich coming from an over pampered political pooch blinded by the filthy proceeds of her "special relationship"with the president.
In the midst of the scandals after scandals and the never ending committees from the "shoeless one" I asked myself how we came to be at this critical but sad juncture in our national existence?how did we come to be saddled with such an ineffective president corrupt government and a leadership with no conscience or love for country..things were far from ideal during the Government of the irrepressible enigma General or Chief Obasanjo (depending on which side you were according to him recently, only his opponents referred to him as a General while friends and admirers called him  Chief Obasanjo!)
Yes I know,Nigeria and the theatre of the absurd but hey that's part of our peculiar

Dele Momodu: My Kobo Advice For Mr President

HI GUYS,I FOUND THIS DEEPLY INSIGHTFUL ARTICLE BY CHIEF DELE MOMODU AND THOUGH I WILL POST ON HERE,ITS AN AWESOME READ.

Your Excellency, please permit me to commiserate with you on the unfortunate and untimely death of your dearly beloved brother. I sincerely join other Nigerians in mourning what must have been a sad loss for you and your family in particular. As you travel back home to your tranquil village to pay your last respects, I pray you ponder on the free advice I’m about to offer you in good faith. Even if you’ve already returned to the gilded cage of Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, I wish to plead that you find the time to read this open letter which I would have communicated directly if I had the privilege of a private meeting with you.
Perhaps, I should quickly introduce myself as a journalist and politician. Though I have seen you a few times at functions, we have never properly met. The only time we ever shook hands was when I joined others to mourn the death of, and celebrate, your father in Otueke village of Bayelsa State when you were still Vice President. I also saw you briefly in South Africa in 2009 but did not approach your table because your bodyguards didn’t look like they would appreciate any lesser mortal disturbing your peace.
I was amazed because I had just left the official residence of President Jacob Zuma in Pretoria and did not see more than a few guards in the house. I had spent quality time with him without any other soul than my South African friend I went with. I had gone there in a rented taxi but no one had asked us to go through metal/bomb detectors; or to drop our phones with members of the secret service. I did not see any ADC, CSO, CSD or any other security aide with similar nomenclature only known to, and made in, Nigeria. I think we just love big titles.

Police arrest robbers who sedate and rob victims in commercial buses

By Ifeanyi Okolie
Do you accept  sachet or bottle water offered by unknown passengers in a commercial bus? Then, you must be careful as some robbery gang have devised this method to rob unsuspecting passengers.
This discovery is coming on the heels of the arrest of  five members of a notorious robbery gang  by operatives of the Special Anti-robbery Squad, SARS, of the Lagos State Police Command. The gang specialized in drugging unsuspecting passengers in commercial buses before dispossessing them of their valuables,
Unlike their other  partners who use their vehicles to perpetrate the heinous crime, the arrested suspects as gathered, would board commercial buses and  position themselves strategically to actualize their devilish act.
Their modus oparandi include trailing their targets either from the bank, or public places, right into a commercial bus.
Information at Crime Guard disposal revealed that seven members of the gang would board same bus with their  target while another would pose as a sachet water hawker. Unknown to their target the sachet water have all  been sedated. One of them would then pretend to buy a sachet water from their gang(hawker), offering N20 note, only to be told  there is no N10 note for his balance. Pretending to be nice, the buyer would take another sachet water and offer to their target, with the explanation that he did not want his money to be left with the hawker.  And immediately their target drinks the water, he would fall asleep and in the process, have his valuables dispossessed of.
But the gang met its waterloo after a foiled attempt to sedate one of its victims in Ikeja area of the state recently. Consequently, three members of the gang were apprehended.
A Police source at SARS said “We have been on their trail for two weeks now. We got information that the same gang had robbed someone on his way from Ikeja to Yaba and the case was reported at Sabo police station.  Driver of that bus and his conductor were initially accused of conniving with the robbers but after proper investigation, they were released with stern instructions to be on the look-out for members of the gang.
